Ecole Polytechnique, Campus Paris-Saclay
Bâtiment d’enseignements mutualisés
The building houses shared educational programs between the higher education and research establishments of École Polytechnique, Institut Mines-Télécom, AgroParisTech, ENSTA (École Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées), ENSAE (École Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Économique) and IOGS (Institut d'Optique).
The singular silhouette of the building is invaded by the nature of the neighboring park. A large space shelters a light vegetation and a set of footbridges and staircases which are so many informal spaces allowing teachers, students and visitors to meet or to work. People no longer meet in corridors, but in light-filled living spaces. The large transparent façade opens to the west onto a vast public space covered with lawns and partially wooded. The building reads like an open space revealing the activities that take place there, and is intended to be an architectural and academic emblem of the future district.
